AssetSmart’s Brian Thompson Elected NPMA Western Region Vice President

Brian Thompson, vice president of sales at AssetSmart, has been elected as the NPMA Western Region Vice President. In that capacity, he is responsible for working with the Western Region chapters and membership to ensure that the NPMA is well-represented in all of its undertakings.

Brian has been very active in NPMA including co-chairing the NPMA Western Region Conference in April 2008 held onboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. The conference was attended by more than 200 persons, the largest NPMA event in southern California since 2002 and included educational opportunities for persons new to asset management as well as programs designed for senior managers. As a member of the Los Angeles Chapter, he received the Outstanding Member Award in 2006, is a frequent speaker at NPMA and other asset management events and has authored numerous articles published in The Property Professional including, “Lessons Learned in Selecting a Property Management Software System” which earned him Award of Merit for Literary Excellence in 2007.

Running on a campaign centered on strong leadership, open communication, and improved interaction with executives at leading asset-driven organizations, Brian was officially introduced as the new Western Region Vice President at the National Education Seminar in July 2008 held in Reno, NV.

“I am thrilled and honored to be elected Vice President of the Western Region,” said Brian. “I come to the table with a number of specific ideas as to how we can improve the organization and with the assistance of the Western Region Board as well as the National Board, I am very confident we’ll better illustrate the value asset managers provide their organization while simultaneously increasing membership and improving member services.”
